Well it's been a while. So much has been going on in the last few months that I haven't had time to do much of anything. Here is a recap as of August 1st:
I stayed in Denton for the big football kickoff event at North Texas because I had helped plan it and was emotionally involved so that was my last day. That night (Saturday), I packed a UHAUL and stayed with my bosses family one last time before heading to NM. My friend Jennifer (old bosses wife)drove the 8 hours with me to Clovis, NM, where Alex lives. I hadn't found a place in Portales yet (about 20 miles from Clovis) so I stayed with Alex until Thursday. I signed a lease on a cute 2 bedroom apt with a master and utility room :) Monday prior was my first day of work at Eastern New Mexico University Athletics!
I didn't plan on getting a roomie but the new softball graduate assistant, Jeana, needed a place so she took the spare room and its been working out great. We work together but aren't around each other enough to get sick of each other. Her husband plays professional baseball and is only around every now and then so it works for us pretty well because I'm back and forth to Clovis a lot too.
Work from the get-go has just been crazy. Between planning for the falls sports season and signing corporate sponsors, my first couple weeks was a hectic. After I got in the groove (kinda, still working on it a little) planning sporting events and getting all my ducks in a row has been great. I love working will all the sports, something I didn't get to do at Washington State, and only got a taste of them at North Texas. Being in charge and running a football game was pretty nerve racking at first but its been smooth for the most part. Basketball season is upon us now so I'm preparing for that.
Being the cheer and dance coach has been really fun. They are a great group of girls and I'm having a great time. I'm excited for their routine we've been working on since August. Its a long one with a lot of different stuff going on. We're performing it on Nov. 7th and I can't wait. Its the biz!
The best part about being here is being close to Alex though. We've been able to do so many things together that we haven't been able to in the last 3 years of living long distance. For Labor Day weekend we took a fun trip to Santa Fe. We attended a wine festival which was amazing, we came home with 9 bottles of wine haha. We've taken little day trips to Carlsbad Caverns and such. With my work its a little hard to get away because there is an event pretty much every weekend, at least one of the days. Thursday-Sunday are my busiest.
Anyways, that's the jest of whats been going on in this girls life. I'm still working hard on my masters. Looking forward to my early birthday present from Alex, a trip home/to Pullman for Dad's Weekend :) Can't wait!
